Most small businesses are sole proprietorships, partnerships, or LLCs and depend heavily on the personal credit of the owner in order to obtain business financing. Anngie Jenkins, Credit Education and Learning Professional, of Credit Score Queen helps small business owners and individuals to improve their credit the legal way. I had the pleasure of meeting Anngie almost a decade ago as we were both members of the same Toastmasters Club. It has been a pleasure to reconnect with her and learn more about her business. Check out my interview with Anngie and her initial pitch.
PITCH! My mission is to educate and empower individuals to build positive credit, increase their credit scores and improve their credit reports. I teach, train and coach individuals on how to improve their credit/increase their credit scores AND I show them a step-by-step process on how to do it. http://www.AnngiesFanPage.com
What key piece of advice would you give to other business owners?
Your network is your net worth. Grow your network and nurture your network by giving them what they want. They will definitely give you what you want.
What question do your customers ask most often? And how do you answer?
The question I get asked most frequently is “Do you do credit repair?” Although credit repair is sometimes necessary when attempting to increase credit scores, my lane is credit education. When credit repair and credit education are coupled together, you’ll see your credit scores increase exponentially.
I’m a gifted trainer. I’ve been training friends and family on everything for years. My background (experience, skills and expertise) is a trainer. However, I wasn’t training people on my job. The job had me doing everything else except training which lacked passion and purpose for me. I wasn’t fulfilled and I didn’t feel a sense of achievement because no one was experiencing any results. So I started my business to perform my passion and purpose which is training adults. Specifically training adults on credit education came about because I successfully increased my credit scores after experiencing a foreclosure and Chapter 7 bankruptcy as a result of a job layoff. And, the people need my help now more than ever. With this “new economy” there is a demand for credit education.
Does the name of your business have a significant meaning?
Yes. I recovered from a foreclosure and a Chapter 7 bankruptcy just 9 months after discharge. Therefore, I’m the Credit Score Queen. I can help anyone who has experienced credit challenges to increase their credit scores.
What separates your business from the competition?
What I do is legal—nothing shady or illegal about what I do. Also, I provide credit education and not only credit repair. When a person is educated they won’t continue to make the same mistakes with their credit. Credit repair only removes the negative or derogatory items with no credit education involved. Sure, the credit report is clean over time but the person’s actions remain the same and then their credit returns to the way it was from the start.
What book, website, or blog (besides your own) do you recommend to other small business owners?
The Four Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss
What is your “must have” software, app, resource or tool for running your business?
Facebook, Hootsuite, SnagIt, Bit.ly, email and my HD webcam are all tools I use that I can’t be without.
