Many new business owners feel lost as they get started, choosing a business structure can be daunting among other start up tasks. Vanessa Parker of PinkBoss, Inc offers a full service business boutique focused on the advancement and development of women business owners. Check out my interview with Vanessa and read her initial pitch.
PITCH! PinkBoss, Inc is “Her Place for Business”. We provide support to female business owners through business formation and marketing services. Our goal is to provide the necessary tools and resources to start and grow women owned businesses. Teaching them how to fire their boss and hire themselves!
What key piece of advice would you give to other business owners?
Building relationships is the key to building your business. Every connection can lead you to another opportunity for your business to grow.
What question do your customers ask most often? And how do you answer?
The most asked question from my customers is “Why should I Incorporate or become an LLC?” I explain to my clients that if you are a sole proprietor you are “solely” responsible for everything that happens in your business. Establishing a separate entity for your business allows you better tax advantages and the ability to protect your assets.
Why did you start your business?
I use to work for a college and many of the students had talents and skills but could not find employment after graduation. I taught them how to establish freelance businesses to help pay their bills. With the growing number of female business owners, many women have no idea how to get their business idea off the ground. PinkBoss, Inc was created as a one stop shop to meet their startup needs.
What separates your business from the competition?
As women we often feel overwhelmed and all over the place. PinkBoss, Inc is the answer to the challenges that many female business owner’s face today. We offer a wide range of services allowing them to utilize one company for the majority of their business needs.
What are your hobbies or interests outside of business?
Family, Food and Magazines! I love spending time with my family. I make it a point to schedule family time each day. I am a food addict. I love to taste and see the new restaurants in the Atlanta area. Last but not least, I love magazines. I read everything from Parent, Instyle, Black Enterprise and Oprah.
What book, website, or blog (besides your own) do you recommend to other small business owners?
“Skirts in the Boardroom”- Marshawn Evans
“Get Connected: The Social Networking Toolkit for Business”- Starr Hall
